I see the clamp on the carburetor but I am not sure where it goes after that. My point is that if you are going to use the throttle to idle the engine up during a cold start the and unless you hold it out it will go rate back to no throttle when you let it go. Is this how it is supposed to work?

Im not sure if that Dorman kit 41016 has the correct part but might be worth a try. I got one from a rebuild kit I purchased from carbking. My hand throttle also returns. I'm using a new return spring that may be to strong. You might try putting a bit of a bend in the wire just outside of the cable housing. When you pull the wire into the housing it'll create a bit of friction to hold it in place. It might take a bit of experimentation to get it exactly right.

I do know the choke cable has been on there for at least 30 years, I don't know if it is original or not, but it works fine. It is hard to pull out as well, (but not real bad) I can't decide if the new reproduction throttle cable is really good cause it doesn't bind up. Or really bad because it doesn't bind up.....I been thinking about crimping the sheathing a bit, but since I don't really ever use it, just put it in mostly for looks, (to fill up the hole) It will be just fine, not to mention it seems about a foot too long. It ought to start rusting up here in a year or two anyway. | | |
