Thought I had all of the electrical issues worked out and now find that the dome light does not work. Verified that it is getting juice and has a good ground, bulb element is brand new. Noticed that the switch was a little iffy. At first it was a solid click when I turned it on but now nothing. Has anyone ever replaced just the switch? Don't have enough change in the ice cream pail for a new light at $42 +/-. frown Saw some similar switches a Radio Shack.

You might want to post a request in the Swap Meet. It should be a less inexpensive price for a used base/fixture.

You probably have dirty contacts in the switch. If you have any, squirt some electrical contact cleaner in the switch. TV tuner cleaner, R-12, brake cleaner or carb cleaner will work, to. Just don't get the last two on your paint.

Took mine apart in my '49 1/2T. Got the switch out, pried open the fold down tabs and cleaned everything up well. Switch operates through a small steel ball and if that is gunky it won't always make contact. Put mine back together and its works. Sometimes you need to push the switch down into the socket a little to move that detent ball.
