Here are the pictures of my "new" toy.
Almost all original, except for the 12 volt upgrade & alternator.

I have searched around for info on what the big trucks are worth, & have watched many of them sell, or not sell on Ebay. I will assume there is really no good answer. I have insured my truck for what i plan to stick into it, just trying to figure out if i will ever get it back. For those of you that have had a few, what would you estimate this one to bring? FYI, not for sale:)

I'm curious also. What do '38 big bolts bring for sale prices. Mine isn't for sale either.

Very nice 38. I see two sticks, does it have a brownee trans? You have a real clean truck, that should give you many miles of pure pleasure driving...

the old 216 sounds like Chevy to me. All it needs now is dual exhaust / straight stacks & down the road you will roarrrr.
nice truck

Car chat means talks about Chevy's. All other car makers only build transportation.

Thanks for the compliments!

Anyone know how to judge values, or have a source to do so?

According to the Old Cars Report Price Guide, a Chev 1937 to 1940 3/4 Ton Stake truck in that condition would be valued between 10,800 and 16,800. You have to look at the guide and decide on the condition rating. They don't have ratings for the 1 1/2 Ton of those years. The publication is sold on the news stands.

Interesting I hadn't seen a 38 chevy with a two speed axle. I have seen the art decos with the mechanical two speed.

I have only been its caretaker for about a month, & its going into storage till spring. However as I dig deeper into it, it seems to be a bit of an odd duck with the two speed and all. I will keep updating as I work on it and find out if its the original axle or added later. Time will tell;)

I only have a single speed on my 38 1.5 ton and don't remember seeing any on trucks now that I think about it. Adam

I had to go take a few more pictures of the truck for the insurance co. the axle says Eaton 2 speed on the back & 15575 is all I saw embossed on the front.

If anybody can tell me were to find more info on this axle, I sure would appreciate it.
