Only in first gear. The mount (an old chunk of truck tire tread) split and fell out. I replaced it with the correct two part mount and it developed this issue.

Like putting a wooden dowel from your ear to valve cover. The one that fell out was a chunk of old worn tire tread. Keep an eye on the oil level, these old Chevy's like to loose there trans oil.

If that is the case the seal behind the driveshaft bushing is allowing the transmission fluid to run back to the rearend. | | | | | Joined: Aug 2011 Posts: 835 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Aug 2011 Posts: 835 | I used to have to regularly drain the excess from the rear end of my '51 and dump it back in the tranny before I rebuild the TT.
