I just finished painting the 64' and installed the new bed boards. Now I'm facing the dilemma of not having any place to put my "stuff" that used to be in the back in a stow box. There is only so much room under the seat, and after I've put a small bag of tools, jumper cables, and some small parts I always take with me, I need to find and figure out how and where to put a jack. Wasn't there a spring clip of some kind that kept the jack in place on one of these? Can they be found as a replacement, or is this going to be another of those things that is NLA(No Longer Availale)?

The stock jack location is under the driver side of the bench seat.

Some folks buy a spring and put some key rings on it to use as a latch point as a replacement.

These old trucks just never seem to let a guy get any rest. I was thinking I had to be looking for one of those old style bumper jacks and then finding a place to stash it, and now I see that it's just one of those small types that can go anywhere under the seat. Just when I thought I was done rummaging through the salvage yeards, I find it's time to go back again for the brackets and spring. With any luck there's still some parts left on the old 62' down at the farm yet. Thanks for the shout out.

I have an extra set of parts sitting in the attic. The only things missing are the small spring that holds the jack to the bracket and 6 of the 8 screws (I may have some extra screws in the shed, have to look).

I see that its simply one of the previously mentioned little sorts that can go at whatever place under the seat. Actually when I thought I was finished scrounging through the rescue yards.

I just got back from the trip down to the old homestead, and was I ever disappointed. My uncle had let some yahoo come onto the farm and clear out over 60 years worth of iron and old cars that were there. You guessed it...the 62' was gone! I had a lot of parts left to clear out of there, if for no other reason than to save as much as I could for trading stock. I have a jck and such, but still am looking for the brackets to keep things where they need to stay under the seat. Let me know what I need to do to get you some bux and I'll send it your way.

Many many thanks. The Pony Express came by the homestead today and left something besides more bills. Got the parts blasted and in primer and should have them in place by the weekend unless I run into a motivational problem.
