For helping keep this great

on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Oct 2011 Posts: 20 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Oct 2011 Posts: 20 | I'm installing a 350 with a 700 R 4 trany in my 42 Chevy 1/2 ton truck and would like to know what water pump should I put on a long or short noise pump, I picked up a new Edlbrock short noise reverse rotation pump at the Moultrie swap meet last weekend at a very good price and would like to use it, put they say that it limits me on room and the pulley set up I will be running, I was going to put on a March set, and the only set they have from Summit it comes with everything, the pump, power steering, alt. and air compressor, what do you all recommend Thanks for any input you may have

Unless of course you are replacing with a recessed firewall. That adds other issues.

I belive with the March system you need about 7 inches clearance from the front of the block to the radiator. March makes some nice stuff, but $$$$$$$

The reason I ask is because I used a 700R4 in my 57' with a 3.55 and now wish I had a 4:10 or had left the TH350 in it. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2011 Posts: 20 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Oct 2011 Posts: 20 | Dave' it has a 7.625 ring gear with a 3.73 gear and is limited slip posi | | | | | Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 2,733 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 2,733 | I've had low speed vibration issues with the tranny in OD but it goes away at higher RPM. Since I don't want or need to drive 85 MPH I'd rather have the 350 back in it. After super tuning the engine some of the vibration has gone away but I'm still not happy. No vibration at all in direct drive. Hope yours works better with the 3:73. I've heard from a few guys that this is a common complaint with 700's but I fail to see why the General would build something like that.
Happy Thanksgiving. | | |
