I'm finishing up the painting on my 39 Chevy 1/2 ton and need to know about the stripe that goes all the way around the cab? The truck is boatswain blue and the stripe is red. However, where does it start and is it as wide as the, what I think is called the belt molding that goes all the way around the cab?
Thanks for your help!

Also, is the cab stripe a painted stripe or a taped stripe?
Thanks to all who responded!

Tom,
In that era, everything would have been painted.

on my 39 3/4 ton the stripe was about an eighth of an inch wide right down the middle of the beltline, plus all the indents of the hood trim were painted. somewhere i found the color charts and the matching trim colors (maybe on this site? ) so my 39 is dark green with black fenders and gigilo green pinstriping (light green)

First, go to your local parts store and buy a striping kit that puts adhesive tape stripes on your vehicle. Buy one that has two tapes about 3/8 " apart.. Clean the cab around the area you want the stripe. Install the tape on the cab on area to be striped.Peel off the outer layer of the tape, leaving the two stripes on the cab. (it does not matter what colour these are)Take the ends of tape and taper them to show the pointed ends.
Paint between these tapes the colour you want, as soon as the paint is dry, remove the two tapes and you are finished. This process worked for me in painting the Gigilo Green on my '39 Suburban. The stripes end at the point just at the end of the upper wide grille bar. Hope this helps. Stan

Sorry, that should read 3/16" apart, not 3/8". Stan

Is there a paint code on the body name plate?

Paint combo chart lists the following for 39.

#243 Body: Export Blue Trim: Argent Silver Wheels: Black
#250 Body: Regency Blue Trim: Argent Silver Wheels: Regency Blue

These were the only two Blue paint color Combination's listed for 39 that I could find. However the Dealers would do most any combinatin you wished to pay for.
