Are you familiar with the old Saginaw worm and sector in the '36 chevy?
Mine is so worn I cannot adjust it. I need a new worm gear and I have never
seen one on Ebay-only for '37's and newer. Do you know if a '37 worm would work
in a '36 gear box? Help I am out of ideas. I have this beautiful '36 ton & half in my barn
that I have worked on for 7 years and cain't drive it. Thanks in Texas.

Try writing to this fellow, he was a e-bay seller that had tons of old NOS parts at one time. He helped me out with steering box internals.

According to the parts manual. '37 to '40 are the same, '36 is different. How about a whole box swap? '41 to '46 used roller balls and a slower ratio for easier steering. I replace my '37 box with one and it drives much nicer.

The roller bearing swap sounds like the better plan. That is what I have on my '47. But how about the frame mount? Are the '36 & '37 pretty much the same? Thank you for the responce Joe. Thanks in Texas.

According to my 1937 Engineering manual, the '37 steering box is really different then the '36. The ratio is up from 14 to 16 to 1, the whole unit is turned over, and the mounting is different plus forward from where it was in '36. Pitman shaft is shorter by 5/8" on the '37 then the '36.

Sounds like it would some work to change one out, but it you had them side by side and could get a good look at them, it might not be that hard.

The frames were redesigned for '37, so they are not the same.
