I am moving to BC from Alberta by the end of Nov. I have a 55 second series TF. I am wondering what I have to do to get it BC registered. Also is it better to register it as a vintage vehicle or go with a regular passenger vehicle regi? Looking forward to some crusing around the Chilliwack area! Thanks in advance for responding! | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 Cruising in the Passing Lane | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 | register it as vintage ["collector plates"] if you're not planning on using it regularly, it's way cheaper - it needs to be totally original and in very good shape, although there's also a "modified collector" category if things like driveline have been updated .... to register an out of province vehicle it has to pass a complete mechanical inspection, everything functional and no rust, check with an ICBC agent in the area

When you get moved let us know...there are a few B.C. Bolters that live in Chilliwack. | | | | Joined: Oct 2011 Posts: 71 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Oct 2011 Posts: 71 | Randy.... welcome to BC! As suggested, an inspection from an approved inspection facility is required. I have a good friend that has a shop in Langley if you have any problems. Is your truck a daily driver or sunny days only? The collector plates will not allow any travel to school or work, so regular insurance may be the answer if driven frequently. Cheers.....Bob

Seems things were always a bit higher in BC... Beautiful country but a bit high on things. | | | | Joined: Sep 2011 Posts: 305 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2011 Posts: 305 | Unlike Alberta, we pay an extra 7 percent sales tax. Lucky for Oregon, no state tax. We have to pay for this beautiful country i guess.

So far I air care on my truck and everything seems to be in working order. I have to pass that darn inspection to get my modified plates. Now, what are the minimum or max. requirements to qualify for the plates? How would/could my vehicle potentially fail the vehicle inspection?
Thank you in advance | | | | Joined: Oct 2011 Posts: 71 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Oct 2011 Posts: 71 | The main idea behind the vehicle inspection is in regards to safety. They are looking at the overall condition of the truck....be sure things like lights, brakes, suspension, steering components, exhaustetc. are all in good working order. Poorly welded frames are also a no no !!!!! No seat belts are not a problem, as they were not installed in the early years. I believe if memory serves me correct there is a guideline within ICBC's website.....but then I have a hard enough time remembering my own name sometimes...!!!??! | | | | Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 460 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 460 | You only need to pass aircare ONCE then you're off the hook forever... my '37 tested best/best/best which totally amazed me at the time so it can be done... once you get your inspection done to make sure the vehicle meets BC regs you should be well on your way to collector or collector modified plates and cheap insurance! | | | | Joined: Apr 2006 Posts: 273 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Apr 2006 Posts: 273 | And of course... remember what BC stands for.. 'Bring Cash'... What do you know about that? Don't know how our Oregon neighbors know, but we're from BC and know all about it. So we "escaped" to Alberta for better wages and less taxxes. We like to visit the SE, Kamloops, and Victoria sometimes because there's no other place like it - but we sure remember the "Bring Cash" part. And we sure miss the forests! | | | | Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 843 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 843 | I saw a tree in Alberta last summer. My daughter got it in Invermeer,B.C. and brought it to her yard. | | | | Joined: Jun 2008 Posts: 1,388 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Jun 2008 Posts: 1,388 | | | | | Joined: Aug 2011 Posts: 687 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Aug 2011 Posts: 687 | There are some pretty areas in both Provinces. I'm from northern Idaho and used to travel to Lethbridge often. Pretty ride up through Cranbrook east through Crowsnest pass. If I remember right, Albert's oldest tree is just east of Crowsnest pass by Frank Slide.
I also remember the ride up through Jasper, Hinton, Grand Cash, etc..
