Will a 700r4 fit in a 47-54 ad truck with stock flat trans cover or does it need the aftermarket style that has the raise area and goes up higher on firewall? im using a 292 6cyl in the stock mounting location

I would guess it depends on how high or low the engine is sitting in the engine compartment.
I have a 305 sitting in my 52 panel with a 350 tranny. I was able to use a flat floor tranny cover but I did have to cut a 1/2 inch "quarter moon",at the toeboard.
So, it may depend on how much you have to raise the rear of the tranny to get the engine level.
The 700R4 is the same except it is 4 inches longer.....I switched a 350 out of my 37 and put in a 700R4 and had to cut the driveshaft off 4".

Just info but hope it helps.

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you smile
