I have read many great posts on installing a t-5 in the 60-66 c10's but I was wondering if anyone has installed one in a k10. My truck has the 4 speed with granny gear and I would like to go to a 5 speed. Any info or sugestions would be great.
Bump. Your '66 should have a divorced transfer case. Have you thought of installing an overdrive unit instead of swapping the transmission? I believe some of the older Volvos have an electronically controlled overdrive unit that you might be able to adapt for use in 2WD.
Or perhaps you could get the entire transmission/transfer case from a 4wd S10. Admittedly it's a little weaker than your current setup, but you did say K10 so if you aren't planning on any serious pulling/towing (which you probably aren't with a T5 anyway) it might work out for you.
I have a 65 k20 and have been thinking of a swap to my thought is a nv4500 from a 2wd then all i should have to do is shorten the intermediate driveline. Any thoughts?
I like the NV4500 swap, but you will still need an adapter or bell housing of some kind. There is NO NV4500 that will bolt to the Chevy bell housing. I thought there was, too, but they are vapor ware and do not exist!
