My name is Mike. I'm a 36 yr old bike builder from Marion Indiana. I've been building motorcycles for 6 years. Prior to motorcycles I built and/or installed custom frames & suspension for pretty much anything mobile.

I joined this forum about 4 years ago when I picked up a 54 3100 but time and money was limited so I parted it out a little at a time until all that was left was the "historical documents". Now, my daughter is well in to college and all of my "ends" are met. Every year there is a big car show here and every year during that show I whine to my wife about having sold that 54. I guess she finally got sick of hearing me whine. This year she suggested I just buy another one and I didn't let that statement go to waste.

I am now the proud owner of a 53 although I won't receive the truck until later this week (and it's killing me).

I don't have any big plans other than using it as my shop truck. I want to lower it a bit but that's it other than making a few small changes to make it a good driver.

This forum seems to have a wealth of info so I'll spend some time browsing around before I start asking questions.

Thanks for having me.

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.

Yeah, if it's who I'm thinking of, his truck was in my dad's shop for quite some time because my dad's heart was sketchy for a while. I made his seat mounts & some other small odds & ends on it. He drives the crap out of that truck. I see it running around all of the time.

I went by today and looked at the truck, looks good to me but it has been put together from different years too my untrained eye. it has a 54 bed but the rest is an earlier year or years.

yeah, I know it has a 54 bed. I have the WHOLE history of the truck. The story of why the bed & wheels were swapped and I think every receipt from day 1. I'll be coming to see you soon for a fuel pump lol.

You could have avoided all this by buying mine, of course for the right price wink.

avoided all of what? The build is the fun part to me although your truck would be cool to have since it had a good part in my fascination for the ad trucks. My fuel pump is fine, I just want a different style for vacuum...so my wipers will work lol.

Are you going too work on it at your dad's home or shop? if i am not being too noisy. in town i would have a better chance of watching the progress but you probably get more advice in town wink. i have the dual action on my truck and i got at AZ i think it was $79.00.

Ha ha! You are exactly right about too much "advice" in the shop in town. I'll be working on it at his house or my shop...probably his house since I only have motorcycle lifts at my shop. You are welcome to stop out there whenever.

Hello from A fellow Hoosier. Good luck and I know the wait is the hardest thing to do. If I may help just drop a line.
