I was wondering what the quarter size hole just below tailgate, dead center, was/is used for? It's a 1952 3100. Also, I see a rear view mirror listed in LMC for the same truck. Was this a stock item or just something to add/ thanks in advance.

It is used to hang the spare tire carrier from. My 52 had the later angled spare carrier but still had the hole you describe. If you use stock mirrors you will probably want the rear view mirror. I don't know if it was standard or an accessory.
