Do any of you fellows or gals have a good 235 shortshaft waterpump you'd like to sell?

I've got a new 235 waterpump, but so far haven't found a shop here that will pull the hub/pulley from the old one, and squash it on the new pump. This is one of the frustrating things about living in Victoria, no-one wants to work on anything, or won't answer their phone, or won't return phone calls. Grrrrrrrr.

Anyhoo, I'm hoping to find a pump to shove onto my bus right away, instead of waiting for a shortshaft pump from Jim Carter. I'm suddenly loosing a gallon of water a day, which isn't cool (hahaha get it?). It never occured to me that getting the hub/pulley swapped would be a big deal. I figured I had it covered, what with the new pump riding around in the tool box! Dangit!

Just after I posted this, I got a call back from a shop that can do it. I'll head down there this afternoon, and drop the pumps off.

I posed this question to Don at JB on Oak and he said he would do it when I needed it done. Press the hub and shorten the shaft.

Ha! That's where I took it, and they couldn't do it. Told me that the shaft size on the new pump was too small, and the old hub could not be pressed on. If they had measured, they would have found that it's just right. So, I'll squash it on with a block of wood and a hammer.

Christopher - use a bottle jack to rig up a press, don't hammer on the shaft!!

I'll use a clamp, and support the back of the exposed shaft. Or, a jack, the ground, and the frame of the truck! I know I don't want to load up the sides of the bearings.

This leads me to another question. Where did you get the pump and what year 235 is it supposed to fit? I know I'll need one eventually.

I got the pump from Lordco, in Sidney. I always get Colin to get my stuff. It's a 56-62 235 pump! I don't have the receipt right now for the part number, but it was a reman, and it was only about $45 or so.

I know the pump you mean. Its what I'd need when the time comes. Once you press on the hub will you need to cut the shaft?

First, you have to pull off the hub that comes on the pump, then press the old one on, then cut the shaft off. At least, that's the route I need to take on my bus!
