Thanks, all, for your kind responses. I've heard of the backwards spotlight trick before, but once I get a truck, spotlights won't be happenning (I don't personally care for 'em). Also heard of those visibolt gadgets, but I was thinking along the lines of a stock appearing light fixture which could be installed on the rear bed sill under the tailgate. Sort of inconspicuous, blending in with the original style of the truck, but there when you need 'em. Yes, I think backups are both to see and be seen.
How 'bout something like the '47-'53 park lamp assemblies? I seem to remember some rod supplier making a product like the '48 Chevy passenger car taillights, except a bit smaller and with a white lens for use as backup lights? It was awhile ago, so I might be mistaken. Anyhoo, thanks again for your replies.
