Now I've got couple of questions, the dash brace located between the insturment clusters has a hole with a rubber grommet in it, and I think it's where the horn wire goes? The other issue is I have a 12 volt battery, 6 volt generator, 12 volt coil, and 6 volt starter, so whats the end result-6 volt or 12 volt? I do have the resister on the coil, and everything seems to work OK. Thanks, Phil
Other than the coil all electrical components look to be original? Haven't driven it that much, just let it sit and idle, seems to stay charged.

More likely, the battery just hasn't run down enough to fail to start the engine yet, and the generator is doing nothing. Unless the regulator has been readjusted to take the higher voltage battery into account, I can't imagine the battery getting charged much, if any.

Get some threaded rod and a tube and fab up a new support for the alternator. You'll need a new upper adjustable bracket for an alternator available at any parts store for cheap. (if I recall,you have a straight one and you need a curved one so you can adjust the tension)I believe that you also need to reverse the wires on your voltmeter and you're almost done. Don't forget to change ALL of the bulbs in the truck to 12 volt. And TomC, yes he IS attempting to charge a 12v batt with a 6v gen. And it ain't gonna work.
