I bought a 1949 Nebraska 3100 farm truck about 5 weeks ago. I've started to strip it down to the frame to get some PUR on it. I knew the engine was seized when I got it. I find i hard to believe it's the original 216 but I could be wrong. I pulled all the front sheet metal off today and found GBA577406 stamped on the block to the left of the distributor. On the right side there looks like 815 stamped upside down in orange ink. Under that there are raised GM letters with a raised circle with 48 inside it. Does anyone have a clue what engine this be?

I have never seen someone post a 3-line oil filter.
Lower right side of the block: is that passenger side or driver side?
Chevrolet oil filters were normally on the driver's side (GMC oil filters were normally on the passenger side).

There are only two lines connected to the filter canister. One of the ports on the filter canister is a drain hole. The fitting in the rearward supply hole in the block is often a T-fitting. One side going to the filter canister and the other hole going to the oil pressure gauge.

After removing the Nebraska dirt and years of oil this is what I found. It's probably has just this side of a million miles on it. I talked to the only motor machinist in town, he told me I would have to take to Effingham IL. (about 100 miles from here) to remove the bearings and rebuild it. About $3000. Anyone have ideas on different size motor that would bolt up to the existing three on the floor transmission? It still works fine.(That's not a 216). I'm thinking straight 6 with an oil filter
