It would troubling if we we could not be more effective than Congress.

I fully believe in plausible deniability - among well-meaning people.

I believe in voting; but, I see no need to keep written-records of minutes.

No minutes, inconsistency, ability to jab at each other, and ability to take a joke, thank you for allowing me the be an unable-to-fully-participate member.

Emu on the back of the jacket, OK, if a majority says yes. F350 on the back of the jacket, I think a unanimous vote would be necessary (although, I normally dissent when I think any vote will be unanimous)

Oh, Bill, please do not disappoint me with a joke. I wanted one of those, but I failed to respond, back in the day. If that goes with membership, I'll gladly pay dues and I will even try to attend a meeting before I retire to VA/NC.

Status report:

1. As reported above, jackets arrived yesterday and all look great. I am conducting a shrink test on mine (consisting of washing it per the label instructions) to see if they will shrink at all. Will publish test report this evening upon test conclusion.

2. Next step is to finish logo update. I am currently refining the logo to prep it for embroidery. I'm assuming everyone understands that to keep cost manageable, we have to keep the thread count down. Thus, the logo will be a line-art, simplified version of what we have on the t-shirts. Same logo, just without the color and finer detail. Also, I am switching out the '54 truck for a nice one I'm working on of a '47-'53 truck (Phil's GMC, to be exact). No emu or F-350 (That was just a joke on you, Tim).

3. Costs. In addition to the cost of the jacket itself, there will be costs for the following:

a. Embroidery set-up fee. This is the charge to set up the logo in their embroidery machine. This will be in the $75 to $80 range and will be spread among all of us.

b. Per jacket embroidery costs. For each jacket, there will be a charge to embroider the large logo on the back, another charge to do the small one on the left front and a third charge to put the name on the right front. I will have exact figures for those after I take the logo to the embroidery shop for the estimate.

c. What you will pay. To figure out the cost per each jacket, I will add up the total cost for all the jackets, the embroidery set up fee and the fee for each jacket's embroidery (will all be the same, anyway) -- in short, I will add up the total cost of buying the jackets and getting them enbroidered. I will then divide by the number of jackets. That will be your cost.

4. Delivery. I am planning on having all of this done so I can deliver the jackets at Winchester. Prior to that, if you want to swing by HQ once they're done, that's always fine, too. For those of you not coming to Winchester and not in the area, I will mail them to you but there will be an additional shipping charge (actual shipping cost).

Alrighty then. I know you're all disappointed at losing the emu out of the logo redesign but ...

John, machine wash the jacket inside out and zip it closed, otherwise the paint on the zipper will (with repeated washings) come off. DO NOT MACHINE DRY. This step is unnecessary. Reverse jacket to rightside out and place on hanger, air dry. Why don't we machine dry? Drying by forced hot air will fade the garment as well as the friction from the 40 minute tumble in the dryer drum.

Sorry, I was collecting data in DT mode (Developmental Test) -- I wanted to see if it would shrink under harsh conditions. It did not. So follow Cosmo's directions for best wear but if you forget and cook it in the dryer, you shouldn't have much to worry about, fit wise.

If you want the formal DT Test Report, that'll cost ya.

I have heard that you should zip the zips but I don't have time for stuff like that.
My jacket has been washed in the above fashion at least 25 times and is still fits like a white sport coat with a pink carnation!!!!

You should have asked about the trial/test and the initiation ceremony (and the secret oath). Not to worry, it looks like eventually anyone is let in (I am a foreigner, displaced-Virginian). There is also a secret handshake:

We have a lot of fun in this group and we're fairly active. Our next big get together is the TriState Show in Winchester at the end of September. Please join us if you you can. We do a few other things together over the winter, too. Stay tuned in here for all the details.

Again, the final per jacket cost will probably be lower, but I won't know exactly what that is until they get back to me with the thread count.

I should have the jackets to hand out at Winchester. If you can't make it to Winchester, then there will be an additional shipping charge from HQ to you.

If your name isn't assigned to a jacket in the list above, and you want a jacket, I have the one unassigned XL. If you want a different size, just let me know -- I'm putting in a second jacket order (For the Hillbilly and one other). You might not get the discounted sale price on the jacket (it was an Aramark Summer Sale), and I won't have it for Winchester, but I can still get 'er done for you.

You guys are going to love these jackets -- even the embroidery shop ladies were saying that they'll look really good.

I have have received numerous comments too, on the logo and asking what the ODSS is and this was in Colonial Williamsburg no less. I am surprised at how warm the jacket is.
