Hey guys -- I'm an "accidental" owner that is new to the boards. I was bored at work one day last week and was browsing eBay. Came across a listing that seemed too cheap (but reserve had not been met.) Lobed in a bid with 3 hours left and half-prayed that someone outbid me. They didn't and I met the reserve by $1.

Here's a completely original 1948 Dually 1-ton (or at least I think it is.) I love the rat-rod look of the body and I'm sure I'll catch some crap for that on here.

The good:
Fires up without any hesitation! New starter and new battery within the last 2-years. Also seems to have all new brake lines, even though the master cylinder was junk. I've got the conversion bracket on the way from CPP. Picked up an early 70s dual cylinder master cylinder and looks like a pretty straight forward conversion. All new wheel cylinders, fresh fluid and some new brake pads and I'm hoping to be road-worthy again.

The bad:

The glass (I've already ordered all new.)
Electrical -- none of the lights work. Haven't given this any time, yet. Appears to have some kind of aftermarket turn signal switches and I'm missing one of the tail lights. This will tackled after the glass and the brakes.

Wheels/Tires. They are junk. My friend said to ditch the split rims but I found a thread on here saying that they actually work pretty well and are easy to change out. Haven't decided what to do on that, yet.

I'll be making some new posts with brake questions (and others as they come up.)

Nice to meet ya!

edit: No inline images on here?? That's strange!! I tried using [img] tags and it didn't work?

Welcome to the Stovebolt Bomb48. From the looks of the front shot the truck it looks like a nice find. As you work on each problem be sure to post questions in the most appropiate forum and you'll get plenty of help. Lots of knowledge and great, helpful folks here.

Oh...and no flack about the looks of it. Its your truck and YOU will fix it like YOU want it...... but IF I ever run up on a nice original I'd keep it that way..but thats me and it'd have to be a nice one!

Good luck, keep the pics coming.

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.

welcome 48bomb. Looks fine to me too. Are you sure you are missing a tail light? Mine came with only one tail light, that's how the factory put them together. Same reason you have an after market turn signal switch. They were either dealer installed or after market. Have fun with it and don't hesitate to ask if you run stuck.

Actually -- I've got both tail lights and both rear signal lights. One of each is missing the lens though. When I get to that, I'll post up some photos and see if they are worth saving or if I should just replace.
