I took the starter off and went to napa and the new starter I got looked like the same one I took off the engine. I put the new one on and now it could engage every time. It sounds like the starter just spins without turning the fly wheel. It does engages once in a while. We tried to it the starter without pressing down the starter pedal and it just sounds like it spins. Can you run a starter for a 216 on a 235? | | | | | Joined: Jun 2012 Posts: 69 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jun 2012 Posts: 69 | Don't think so...The 216 wouuld be a 6 volt system and the "55 and up would be a 12 volt..the flywheel teeth are a different count and pitch....plus the starter drive shaft dimmention is different...You'll need to take the 216 starter back and get one for whatever 235 engine you have... | | |
