In 1954/55 there was a factory option, two-speed wiper. It is rare but Golden State Pickup seems to be able to find them.
If you plan on using the original radio in a '54, the aftermarket electric wipers will not fit (this is only a problem in a '54 and with a '54 radio and a non-factory electric wiper).

My vacumn motor leaks and is not running very well. I'm going to send it in for a total rebuild by "wiperman.com". Check out their site. I've heard that when the motors are overhauled they work fantastically.
Depending on what year, the cost is from $59 to $69 and comes with a 3 year warranty.

It is about 2-3 inches long, with a bend at each end. Either end can come loose if you've been working up under the dash. The diaphragms inside the motor dry out. SOme can be restored with petroleum jelly or with a new piece of leather and I think there are some old threads on fixing the motors in the archives on this site. | | |
