Actually it's a 55.5...

1. I understand that gas tanks are hard to find... Has anyone replaced the gas tank with a repo or with a generic heavy duty plastic one?

2. I'm looking for another seat (Bill [Red58] noted that the AD years had the same seat) - but in the meantime, anyone replaced the seats with updated buckets? What did you use? I really don't want to get too fancy!

3. My rear sill was whacked - one option is to repair it but are there any out there?

I've posted my needs in the Swap Meet.

Thanks guys!

Larry - if your tank is at all salvageable get it "rebuilt", it's a lot of work to change the location - there's no repro available I've heard of, but alternatively you might have one the same shape made up of aluminum [at least there's a fabricator here that could do it] or check the wreckers for something that has the filler in a similar location, maybe a Blazer or Cherokee, that could be mounted the same

if you can't find a seat [I believe '47-'59 and some early years sedan delivery and school buses], consider the 60-40 seat from an '86 PU we put in my buddies '56 for a replacement, it fits well and allows some access to the rear

for the rear sill, if you're not in a hurry you might find one, but also be looking for a good bodyman that has a floor mount type frame straightening setup who could pull and massage it back to shape

Bill

Until about 2 years ago there were no repops for my 52 panel. Then JimCarter had them repoped and I must say, for Mexico repop it is a nice one. Nice guage metal and it is IDENTICAL to the original. I'll give Jim credit on this one, its nice. I'm not sure about your year vehicle but you may want to give JimCarter a call.

I bought a 52 panel in pieces. Is there a pic somewhere showing how the gas tank mounts? What the mounts look like etc.
Thx
