They will stick out, not sure how much, but I can always spot a late model 4x4 set up. The pros shorten the axles to make it look right.

But if you can afford to have a shop shorten the axles you will have an awesome set up. Disk brakes with aftermarket goodies like ARB air lockers and a closed knuckle. Use the later model engine, tranny and transfer case and you will have a great set up for off road and highway. Drop in an Atlas t-case, some air lockers and a winch and the truck would be almost unstoppable.

One day I might build another 55 with all these. Maybe even go with coil spring set up like this one:

That "Flying 55" is a real nice truck.
My Son was in the passenger seat when that photo shoot at Pismo Dunes was taken.

Dogs51Burb,
I've been wanting to learn about that truck ever since I ran across the photo. I need to get that issue. Does it go into detail on that truck? What can you tell me about it?

And do you know if it is for sale?

lostmy47,
My Son told me you started talking to him about that flying 55'. You found out He knew all about it, what a small world in cyberspace!

Yep, pretty small. We had a pretty good laugh over it.

it may be a small world, but I wouldn't want to paint it.
