I have the original 1953 chevy truck radiator and the two top holes have about 1 inch pipe welded onto the radiator and the pipe has threads on it like a nut belongs on it. How was the top bolted together?

This is a 49 radiator - should be the same. Are you talking about this or the mount it goes in?

They are non-stock someone has added them for clearance or spacing issues. Not uncommon on these trucks as original motors blew-up and a different engine was installed, or they overheated due to fan inefficencies.

Maybe someone installed a Jimmy in it at some point and did this to gain the required length.
