just a quick question on removing the gastank.
seat is out seat supports (across the gas tank) are out
Question: Im assuming its just the two straps holding it in. Underneath the cab, the bolts look like they have cotter pins and springs. Are these the correct bolts? just checkin.

I don't recall that mine had the springs and cotter pins, but seems like something that would be good to do! | | | | | Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 1,144 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 1,144 | On my 38 we had to cut part of the back of the metal around the tank. the metal to support seat wrapped around tank and we couldn't move tank enough to get it out of frame work. Looked like tank had been put in place then the seat base frame spot welded in. The straps didn't have springs and cotter pins. The cab mounting bolts did have springs on underside forward, on the rear cab mounting bolts the springs were inside cab. Your 46 may have a better system.

i ended up having to cut one of the straps. i wil have to cut the three remaining bolts.
and oh boy, the amount of slimy junk underneath the tank, yuck. im almost ready to take the cab off the frame. just have to remove the dash! | | | | | Joined: Apr 2012 Posts: 5 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Apr 2012 Posts: 5 | We must all be on the same beer!! Yesterday I removed the seats from my '37 Maple Leaf (Australian Assembled) and removed the fuel tank. I had to remove 3 large Garbage bags of rats nests , dropings etc, near made me puke. The Tank straps were secured under the floor by 4 x 3/4 head nuts similar to a Mag wheel nut. The other protruding bolts with the springs etc are Cab bolts. Some things on this truck are different to US & Canadian models, in that they were imported as Chassis/Cab and the HOLDEN (GMH) assembled and fabricated the cabs, different door styles, windscreen etc. All the best with your project. | | |
