I decided to pull the plug on the other jacket thread and start fresh.
When we left off we had narrowed it down to the 3 season jacket from Weargaurd. John Gott posted a link to a jacket that he wears at work. Is anyone interested in exploring that one more. Does anyone have any other suggestions? We are not really in any hurry, just trying to keep the project moving forward.

I think the idea of having a nice safety vest too is a great. I too would like to have ODSS on the back, just in block letters. Here are several to choose from.

http://www.awdirect.com/high-visibility-reflective-vests/

In my experience, the cheaper ones are just that, cheap. If you have ever had to wear one a lot you will agree that its nice to have one that fits and has good closures etc.

Good news!

I just got the Aramark Clearance catalog and the Wearguard 3-season jackets have been discounted about 50 %

S - XL is discounted to $29.99
2XL -3XL is discounted to $34.99

the web site still has the normal price of $64 and $69. So we might want to act now and use the codes from the catalog.

Have we decided on the color combo's?

I'd be up for black, dark red, either of the Navy's or maybe even the other red. Can we make the logo work with any of these colors?

XL for this displaced Virginian.

Any of the colors that Bill lists would be fine with me.

I think the logo in white on the dark red/Black lining would be a really nice color combo.

I guess I'll do the ordering and I can get the embroidery done from our usual shop as well. We want the logo on the left breast, our name (Sweet, Mike, Tim, Grigg, Billy, John, John, Phil, etc) on the right breast?

The List (with the name to be embroidered):

Sweet XL
Mike (Roache) XL
Tim XL
Grigg XL
John (me) 2XL

Billy ?
Mike B ?
Phil(s) ?
Andrew?
George ?
Hambone?
Others?

Grigg -- Yes, that's the one. Choose the "Dark Red/Blk lining" option in the color pull down menu to see the jacket in the dark red.

Cosmo -- You bet. I'll try to have them all done and ready to hand at Winchester.

JM, I like the red too. I was thinking black in the begining of all this discussion but seeing how I already have 3 black 3 season jackets this will be a refreshing change. FYI-the jacket in the picture, http://entertainment.webshots.com/photo/2979271500083734483SlSyfv

is a large and fits me fine even with a sweat shirt on which is what I wear to work most of the winter.

I also appreciate you stepping up to lead the jacket effort and not to put a wrench in the plan but what do you mean by the logo in white? Can you explain the logo? I had a nice logo in color on the back of the jacket in mind but maybe that would be too expensive or not what anyone else wants. Just a thought.

Mike B -- No prob. We all have our own peculiarities ... wink If you want, you could always find a jacket you *do* like and we could have it embroidered with the rest of them when the time comes. Aramark even has a jacket in the same clearance catalog that's pretty similar to this one but doesn't have the elastic cuffs or waist.

How about this one? It's $40 in the clearance catalog but it only comes in black or Navy blue.

Billy -- Good discussion about the logo. And that's a discussion for the group. I can get started on the jacket purchase while we hash out the logo details. Let's make sure we've heard from everyone who wants in.

So, the embroidery... Rough guessing (based on our farm jackets from a few years ago, but I will get up to date estimate) Probably be a $75 charge to set up the logo and then $10-$20 per jacket to do the embroidery. Big logo on the back or smaller logo on the front? Big on back will be more $$$ but we're in this far, what's a few more?

And I'm assuming that either way, we'll want our names on the other side of the front?

Do we want anything else on the jackets?

John

Just another possibility, Aramark can do the embroidery but maybe your local shop can do it cheaper or better quality? Again, not trying to make this an outrageous expense but we have an American flag on the sleeves of some of our work stuff, or it could be on the opposite side of the chest from our names. The possibilites are endless. We could have the logo on the back, name on one chest and "ODSS" on the other.
I do want my name on the either side of the chest as the rest.
Thanks.

If that's a large then I bet an XL is to big for me.

On Billy's advice I'd like to change to a Large.

Billy, do you think I'd be better off with a size "L"? I mean I'm not as tall as you are, don't have that beefy barrell chest of yours and I'm ordering an "XL"?! Please talk me off the ledge if you see it as necessary.

There are endless choices. Just brain storming here ... Marynad flag for the Murlanders, VA flag for the Virginny boys, etc;

Instead of embroidery, perhaps a flag patch would help keep costs in check

The 3 season jackets are supposedly designed to "deflect light rain" but are by no means waterproof, that, I can attest to first hand.....

John,

I looked at the alternate jacket, it shows it's cost is $99...where did you see it's listed at $40?

So I'd be the only one wearing a Black or Blue jacket while the rest are wearing Dark Red... headscratch

Mike -- I'm looking in the Aramark "Summer Clearance" special catalog I got in the mail. smile

And yes, you'd have a different jacket and in a different color. But the embroidery would be the same...

By getting the embroidery done locally, then, it doesn't matter if we source some of the jackets differently, so if you don't like the jacket we've picked out, find one you like (or just bring me one you already own and want to have embroidered) and I'll git 'er done like the others.

Is strict uniformity a show-stopper here???

Okay, to get back on track here. We didn't get to fit check Billy's jacket at the confab, but are you all still wanting to change your sizes down one (XL to L)?

I should get this order in soon.

Thanks,
John

I think if a L fits Billy it'll work for me too.
