I see a lot of trucks like mine with the sides of the hood removed. It looks like to remove them, you need to hammer/pull out the pin in the hinge. So my question is, after you've removed the sides, how do you hold the hood down, since the latches/locks are on the hood sides?

Blah. I was hoping there is a cool trick way to do it, or maybe someone came up with a way to make a hidden latch or bracket.

With out a picture I have only imagination to work with since I don't think I've ever seen one up close.
I did wonder if it is possible to re-purpose the original ones but that required more specific knowledge again... so you get Bungi wave
(Someone with what you need will be along shortly)

On my Model A in the summer months I remove the lower part of the hood(sides). Just as you said - remove the hinge pin. Then reinstall a new pin in each end(4 total) in the shape of an L. The leg of the L goes in the "hinge" the other leg is held to the firewall and the radiator by clips with 1/4 turn fasteners. I'll try to snap a pic and post later in the week.

stevebolt, that's where being a streetrodder comes in! You will have to fabricate some hold-downs for your application. Be creative. Bungees are NOT cool!

Ahh shucks.... I was trying to avoid the baling wire idea too even though it would be more period correct. I guess thats how the first hot rodders evolved, they had a need and evolved past what was at hand to what would be cool...
