What tires would be the best for my 1947 1/2 ton pick-up (216) bias ply or radials? Someone told me radials will make it wonder some and bias will be better, but I question my source as he seemed to be more noivce than me! (If that be possible)

I would suggest you try a search of the archives, as this has been talked to death. After reading several hundred posts on the subject you need to weigh the pros and cons offered by radial as opposed to bias ply tires.

Radials will make it drive MUCH better, with no wander. They are the best choice if you're going to use the truck regularly. If you want a stock appearance for shows, and don't plan on driving it as a daily use vehicle, bias will be ok, buth they will not perform anywhere near as well as a modern radial.
Also, radial will be much cheaper, as virtually all bias construction tires are considered "specialty tires", and are priced higher than a comparable size/load range radial.

Radials. Period. If the truck wanders, check alignment.

After checking the alignment, check the air pressure. Over inflation will cause wandering. My radials wandered until I decreased by 2 psi until the wandering stopped. 38 psi with LT215/85R16 - I forget what psi I used with 7.00R15LT.

Wildone...let your novice friend wonder while you wander, OK?
