Hi All,
I have a 1946 Chevy 1/2 ton stock, and I would like to change my front brakes from huck to bendix. I have a 1952 GMC Suburban that I want to use for the donor brake parts. Are they compatible?
Thanks,
Possum

GMC and Chev are the same. Should be a good candidate.

just swapped my 46 1ton huck brakes to bendix setup. The difference was night and day.Best thing I have done so far on my truck other than going from bias ply tires to radials.Probably better saftey upgrade than the tires.

I have a 48 GMC 1/2 ton short bed pickup.

I replaced my front Huck's brakes with Bendix brakes off of a 1952 Chevy pickup.

Spindles are the same, just make sure you get all the parts from the spindle out Especially the spacers behind the backing plate.

I have not changes the rears on mine yet.

Made one heck of a difference in stopping power.

I would advise replacing the GM style ball bearings with the newer tapered roller bearings. Kits are available from several online sources.

Good Luck

Can the rears be changed as well?

I can tell you it would take some real creativity to change the rears over to Bendix. First the backing plates are riveted on, but more of a problem is the flange that they attach to is in a different position.
