Maybe you could use the holes to mount a few accessories ?......maybe some of those old british style turn signals that stick out left and right ?, or how about a cigarette lighter to plug your coffee pot into ?.the possibilities are endless *g*

I was gonna put little glass inspection panels in the holes... that way the doctors won't have to open me up again to look for problems as I get older... they can just look through the glass if there is an issue...

I only see that being dangerous if I go tanning... if I smelled liver cooking I'd have to get out of the sun pretty fast!

I'm back to 100% already, Alvin... actually maybe even 110%... I feel better than I have in years so I'm good to go if it starts raining $10 bills... or if my buddy from South Carolina happens to need a ride back here from the airport for instance!

Hey Bobb....what shall we bring ??

Hy Guys Berni will make her Chilli, and Nanaimo bars (or as we call them Cedar logs), and we'll have coffee on. I've borrowed a BBQ. so if you want something else to eat or drink, bring it along, plus whatever you think is pickanick appropriate BOO BOO! There is no flooding near us, but boy did it ever rain here last night! Everyone on this forum is welcome to come, we start this event at 11:00 a.m. and go to ??? We might even get around to horseshoes this year, or maybe bocci (spleling), see you in a week and a day!

Tammy & I will bring a couple of pies.

I have coke, juice and bottled water. Would anyone want me to bring smokies and buns?

Hy Super55 yes smokies and buns would be welcomed. Have you taken any pictures of your shop construction and/or the progress on your truck you could bring to show everyone?

I can do that. I am anxious to get this shop done. I keep running into some set backs on changes and my inexperience. Took me all day to draw up the electrical plans. Not my forte. I like to cut and nail. Pretty happy with the foundation and hope to pour the slab ASAP. It has radiant floor heating so I am working on the insulation application and plumbing rough in. The lady who drew up the plans didn't indicate any insulation under the slab, so I have to wait for Tuesday to talk to the city inspectors.

By the way, I found a Junco nest on one of the sod piles near my excavation. Has four eggs in it. Have to stay clear until the little buggers fly off.

we can bring a potato salad and a mixed greens salad.

We were going to bring triple chocolate frosted brownies... I guess I'll just see if we have too much dessert and need more main dishes...

I know that is your belief, Bobb... however I also know if you eat all that stuff you're gonna have to plow a field manually in order to burn off all that sugar so it doesn't drive you into a sugar high you can't come back from!

Hey Mr. Lang! Are you heading to 3Bs on Sunday?

It doesn't look promising, but we shall see. My Parental Units are visiting, starting today. This afternoon!!!! Once they are here, I'll ask them and see if'n they are interested in heading over. I know my Dad would be interested-, and I know I want to go.

I'll figure out what's happening tonight when we make a plan. I'm finishing up a kitchen for some people right now, and we are planning on putting the siding on my Garagemahal, and painting some of the inside of my house, and putting in a new kitchen sink, refinishing part of my floors....... But, a day off, and a road trip to see rusty junk, and rusty junk aficionados is hard to resist!

Dave, Trev, John ??........I am open for a convoy if you guys want. I figured I would follow Fraser Hwy out to Abbotsford, and jump on the freeway for the balance. Bobb suggested 11:00 am so if you guys hit Cloverdale around 10 that should be lots of time.
John ??.......we can " pick you up " along the way if you like. Is your baby comfortable ay highway speeds ? If not we can take the scenic route thru Yarrow again. Anyone else wanting to join in is of course welcome ! Trev.....you bringing the '55 ?

I haven't had the '55 out of the garage yet this year or even put the insurance decal on it but am toying with the idea... life would be a lot easier bringing my Nissan or even Celine's Honda but I'm still kicking the idea around...

The '55 ran hot last year when I had it out to Bobb's and since it's supposed to be upwards of 28 degrees Sunday I'm not sure if I want to take the chance... that said, I had the Bel Air out only 3-4 times last year, once to Bobb's, once to Ladner, to A&W and just out for an evening cruise and it always runs hot which is annoying (and if I'm as far away as Chilliwack scary too) but I'm gonna top up all the fluids, take it for a run tomorrow and see how it feels and go from there...

Dave... as for the picnic table, not sure how big but it is smaller than your standard model... a 4 seater instead of 6 I think...

Strange that it runs so hot all the time. Did you have the rad. redone when Bobb did the engine work for you ? You sure the temp guage is accurate ? Has she actually boiled over on you ? If the rad is OK, you need to check that the thermostat is working ( cheap & easy fix ), that the rad cap is functioning OK, and that the rad hoses aren't collapsing under pressure. Beyond that it gets tougher.

Bobb had the rad redone when he did the engine rebuild, put a new rad cap on it and as far as I know installed a new thermostat and hoses as well...

I'm not positive the temp gauge is accurate but on the way back from Chilliwack last year the minute I hit traffic I watched it rise higher and higher... finally pulled off the highway, got semi lost coming home down all the back roads of Yarrow but just kept coming in this direction at a lower speed, the engine cooled off and we made it without it boiling over...

I'm going to go check all my fluid levels and top them up today or tomorrow and when I did am thinking I am going to add a LOT more antifreeze to the rad to keep my temps down if I am going to attempt this trip again in a few days... we'll see...

Hy Guys, Trev how high up the gauge does it get? Check the coolant level, don't fill it all the way to the top, the coolant must have room to expand when it warms up. Does it "overheat" in traffic, or when driving along the road? Check your oil level as well, and the tension on your fan belt. If I'm remembering correctly we did the rad when we did the engine.

I guess it is possible the thermostat is faulty or sticking. New one costs less than $ 10.00 / 10 minutes to re & re. Might be worth a shot ?

On the way home from your place last year it got about 7/8 of the way up before I got off the highway, hit the slower country roads and ended up going miles out of my way because I have NO idea where the roads in Yarrow go... gradually it cooled off.

Yes, I remember not to fill a rad to the top in these old beasts... who could forget the first year taking the '37 to Ladner show and shine and sending up smoke signals in the direction of North Vancouver because I had fill it to the top the night before?

I'll be checking ALL fluid levels (tranny, engine, brakes) before taking it out the door as well as tire pressure so no worries there... as for belt tightness I *know* you had to get that right, Bobb... do I really need to check it?
