Are they not the wanted option anymore? I have a set of originals that I'm on the fence about using or not. I haven't seen discussion on them for some time now.

Who is asking the question? If it's anyone but you, who cares? Do you like them? Do you think they will be effective as turn signals? Do they look right to you? Will they make you money on eBay? If YOU like 'em, use 'em. If not, sell 'em! Good luck on your quest for the truth.

The point was more about not seeing discussion on the topic for some time now. I have some. Whether I use them or not, time will tell. I'm actually leaning towards a stock light on each barn door with the drivers door holding the license plate.

What more can be asked about them? It has been discussed many times on the 'bolt. Since reproductions are available from $60 - $200, availability is not a problem anymore either. Documents show that they were an option and Tim Lederman offers a template to install them on your panel and 'burb too. Almost all the restored/hot rodded Burbs and panels I have seen have the bullet lights installed on them. My plans are to install them on mine too.

Both my 51 & 53 burbs came with the bullet lamps.

They must be popular. They were not available as reproduction parts until about the last 6-8 years. Now, as noted by George, almost all the reproduction parts vendors sell them. They come painted or chromed; and, 12v LED versions are available, and 6v dual-filament replacement bulbs are available.

They were an option or an accessory from 47-55.

I have a NOS set on my 1954 Suburban; and, I gave a treasured junk-yard-find (in 1974) original pair to a fellow stovebolter who is restoring a GMC suburban.

Mine original only had the place for one rear light. I purchased a set of chrome bullet lights for $85. I kept them for a couple years and when as I finished my panel I "held them up" to where they're suppose to go....then did it again and again and decided "for me" that I would not use them. Then I put some LED's below the door......I think maybe they're a little low?

....sold the bullet lights and now wish I had kept them and put them on. I think, now, that it would be the best for the panel and for "being seen" at night or daytime.

Thats my story and I'm sticking to it!!...oh, and I would have liked painted ones instead of the chrome. Think twice before deciding. Its a personal choice/thing.

Do the repros have the "Duray" stamp?

I put them on my panel. Mine are actually off a 38-39 Oldsmobile. They are very, very close to the correct ones. They don't say Duray on them, but OLDSIG.

My suburban also came with the bullet lights and are labeled OLDSIG. My suburban was originally a Hanford California school bus. How do the OLDSIG bullet lights differ from the Duray or reproduction ones?

Dunno. When I have time I'll take some pics and measure them.

I think they look cool. The re-pops I have are dual filament. I wired the dim for park, and the bright for signal.
