That is a nice looking truck.

The pump has a drive out the back that connects to the rear diff. I will be removing the pump and getting the driveshaft lengthened and installing a steady bearing. | | | | Joined: Aug 2006 Posts: 98 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Aug 2006 Posts: 98 | Love the look of the ol girl. | | | | Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 6,189 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 6,189 | Is the parking brake located on the back of the pump transfer case? If so you'll need to make the one on the transmission work again. Mike B | | | | Joined: Sep 2011 Posts: 70 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Sep 2011 Posts: 70 | Fortunately the park brake is still working on the rear of the transmission, however the left rear brake is giving me some grief. It was dragging when I brought the truck home and it has seized up now. Hopefully I can get it apart to see what the problem is. | | | | Joined: Jun 2011 Posts: 5,096 Crusing in the Passing Lane | Crusing in the Passing Lane Joined: Jun 2011 Posts: 5,096 | That joint in the driveshaft where the pump is, is a great place to put a Brownie, in case you have very low rear gears.

The truck does have a 2 speed rear and I don't know which would be better for highway driving. | | | | Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 6,189 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 6,189 | Was there a second parking brake on the rear drive shaft? If not how did they keep the truck from rolling while pumping? It does have hrdraulic brakes doesn't it? I bet the rear will let you go at least 55 mph... Mike B | | | | Joined: Sep 2011 Posts: 70 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Sep 2011 Posts: 70 | There was a Mico Lever Lock system on the truck, it was taken off when the firetruck equipment was removed. There are still some of the parts connected on the truck's brake lines so I have to change a couple of them. | | |
