on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Apr 2001 Posts: 268 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Apr 2001 Posts: 268 | Hi All,
Does anyone know where to find clutches for the Big Bolt trucks???
None of the parts stores listed on the parts page seems to carry parts for GMC Big Bolts. Everything is either smaller or bigger.
According to the info I have so far my '52 GMC 454-30 w/302 and Clark 205V trans, uses a 13 inch Lipp clutch.
I'd take either new, used or rebuilt.
Thanx, GMCPic

I'm finding that the old size discs and pressure plates are no longer being stocked, fortunately rebuilding is still an option.

Walk into this place and lay my pressure plate and fly wheel up on the desk and the guy turns around and walks off. I thought I had hit another dead end. He comes back with all the parts I needed freshly rebuilt. They now have also re-surfaced my drums and riveted as original new material on my shoes. Right in my back yard. http://automotivefriction.net/You may find similar company in your area or look'em up to see if they can help.

I did that with mine at NAPA and they had it back in perfect shape in under a week.

Have been doing the online thing without much luck yet...but never say die is my moto.
Persistence will prevail.
Further note found that someone had installed the wrong release bearing.
Thanx All, GMCPic

We have used them to reline a clutch and rebuild a pressure plate. They specialize in the bigger trucks. Prices were very reasonable. They might even have it in stock. 408.286.9200 Bafriction.com Check them out - I'd recommend them. Very helpful there also.

Thanks all for the info.
Believe it or not my local NAPA (Paradise CA)store was finally able to locate a clutch. It is a Valeo Brand clutch. Only $95.00 plus $49.00 for release bearing and $14.00 for shielded pilot bearing.
When I went online to Valeo none showed up on their web site.
