I'm tightening my center bolt on my AC S-6 oil filter but still getting a little leakage around cap. Gasket new and good. How tight do I dare torque down center bolt?
Mine looks like this http://www.stovebolt.com/techtips/engines/oil%20filters/35.jpg
Thanks

It shouldn't take a lot of torque to seal the gasket. the washer on top can be a problem getting it to seal. I would look at the pattern that is impressed on the gasket to see if there is a problem.

Make sure you put some oil on both side of the gasket before you put it on. Seems to help seal it.

Thanks guys, I have a large gasket on underside of lid where it meets the canister and a small gasket/washer piece on top of spring and bottom side of lid. Is this the way it is suppose to be?

You want a gasket between the head of the bolt and the top. Usually this is in the form of a washer.
