Check and see if the connections at the battery and the starter as well as the ground wire are clean and tight. You may want to pull the battery cables off and make sure they are clean.
The other thing I suggest is to have your battery load tested if the first checks do not work.

Does this happen when both cold and hot?

Look at the starter solenoid connection and starter mount bolts.

Do your battery cable ends have soldered connections or are they clamped onto the wire?

Do you have a volt meter?

Welcome to the 'bolt, GM250. What part of Norway are you from? I spent a summer wandering the southern parts of Norway and Sweden; borrowed a buddy's car in Oslo and drove to the coast and back. Beautiful country full of really nice people. The beer is strong and the women are lovely; or was that the other way 'round? wink

I agree that a volt/ohm meter will be helpful in chasing leaking electrons. My wild guess is there's a bad ground somewhere. Just for giggles, why not check the continuity of the starter itself; if the windings are damaged you could be dumping voltage through the starter housing.

Ive got a voltmeter inside the burb allright.. and it dumps down to way under 12 volts as soon as i turn the key.. I think it may be what we in Norway call "current regulator" (thas a direct translation), or perhaps the Generator.. Or as you guys mentioned, the starter.. Anyway, thanks for your help, and keep coming with good adwises!

and, btw, I'm an hour away from Oslo, the Capitol in Norway.

Well from what I can gather, I would venture to say the starter and or starter solenoid(on top of the starter)has gone bad or you have a wire connection problem. The alternator/generator will NOT likely be the problem.

Check the across the battery and see what voltage you have when someone else cranks that motor, I have had batterys with bad bars between cells, if thats ok check the voltage at the starter when trying to crank, could also be the starter brushes to.

Be sure you're well grounded. On my 69 I have a cable from battery to block, from battery to fender liner and from block to frame. Also check the cable connection from the battery cable (pos) to the starter terminal.
