The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area The Electrical Bay Head Light upgrades for a 36?

Any one have a source for halogen lights for an 8 3/4 dia housing. I found a Hella rally light the right diameter but only in driving or fog light patterns. I have a 12 volt system with relays and heavy gauge wire all set to go.

Thanks for the tip however, I am looking for a whole new reflector and lens for H-4 bulbs that will fit into my head light buckets. My cars all have 100/140 H-4 lights and I would like to ad these to my truck as well.

Steve , 100 watts is nice but it's _way_ overkill
- I drive out in the middle of nowhere , pitch black and my cheapo H3064 seal beams work just fine . go for it .

Steve, buy a set of cheap H-4 headlights, cut out the lampholder and epoxy the piece onto the 8-3/4 inch reflectors .I did this and it worked.

I wouldn't use a sealed beam in any car or truck the light pattern is not very good. You are right about 100 watt being overkill in a sealed beam but not in a good H-4 reflector. The reflector in a sealed beam scatters light and higher wattage bulbs just make it worse. I have never been flashed by other drivers with my lights and my cars go fast enough to require good lighting. European e-code lights were designed to provide light that is very focused.

That said, the head lights are 8.75" diameter and the largest light assy are 7 inch. I don't want to put some small lights on the truck as they will look out of place.

That is a great idea, I played around and soldered in some H-4 bulbs but my reflectors need to be re-silvered. I may try putting in a whole 7" reflector. Hella has some 8.75" reflectors for H-3 bulbs but they are only single beam.
