hi, i have a problem with the window regulator on my drivers door. the glass is wound down but the winder handle just turns round & round without lifting the glass and the glass will not budge, this was like it when i got the truck. i have just imported it from the usa (texas) to the uk it is a 1950 3100 with some mods, the doors have a vent window so cant be 1950 unless they have been modified.
any ideas as to what might be causing this?

The arm may have come off the track on the bottom that the window is fixed to ,to check remove the lower door cover 5 screws and lift the window up by hand.Also remove the door trim.You should be able to see the bottom of the window and the track and see whats going on.

the handle has splines inside,that match the regulator.These may have worn off.loosen the screw in the handle and have a look

Or the gear are the back of the handle shaft is stripped.

Or you're missing some teeth off the regulator arm.

If this is the case you may be able to re dress the splines with a small triangular file. The handle is made of pot metal and tends to wear which may reveal itself as sluffing off into the grooves. It worked for one of mine anyway. (also hit the regulator grooves as well)

thanks for all the info guys. the splines are fine i removed the winder and that part is ok. in the bottom of the door i found what looks like an old track so it looks like an arm or something has come off. i cant seem to get to the glass from the bottom and trying to push the glass up from the top access hole dont work either.
i shall take another look in the morning to see if i can free it up. there is a used rergulator on ebay for $35 mabye i should just buy that.
is it easy to remove the old regulator and glass?

A 1950 will not work in a 1951 or later.
Make sure it is the correct year and side.

I purchased a very good one in the "parts wanted" section of this forum. I have had very good experiences purchasing parts here. Not so much on eBay

Let us know what year truck you have and someone will help with removal. It is not that difficult.

Like you say it sounds like your doors have been changed for later ones or in fact your truck is slightly 'newer' than you think.....
Pre 51 had turn down handles and one piece glass,1951 was a one year deal,vent glass and turn down handles from '52 and on had vents and push button handles.

DADS50 is right though,I would rather place a wanted ad regarding this here.
It reaches the right people,and for what it's worth the few parts i've bought through the Stovebolt have been exactly what I was looking for and in great condition.
