Awhile back I was going through some old rims and noticed a few had some serious wear around the lug holes.

The rims are solid, straight and still useable, but obviously they have been well used over the years, distorting the lug holes probably due to over tightening and repeated on/off use.

I was curious if this can be fixed and how?

I had a set in the same condition and saved them by replacing the 7/16 lugs with 1/2" ones. Required drilling 7/16 lug shoulder holes slightly larger. The tapered part on a 1/2" lug nut is considerably bigger and really big on some Lincolns. The nice thing is they have 7/16 lugs with the same shoulder size that presses into the hub/axle as the 1/2 has so it's easy to go back to the original size.

If they are hub piloted, it doesn't make any difference. If they are stud piloted and the holes are wallowed out, they are junk.

Thanks guys, that answers my question. They are stud piloted and I didn't know if anything could be done. The wheels are quite straight and solid, but some of the lug holes are pretty abused.

Maybe it's time to make an air compressor hose reel out of them!

crenwelge is right, and you have the right idea. Put a nice hubcap on your hose reel!
