I assume it is welded. Where are the spot welds located? Along the side? Can't seem to figure it out.

Your right about it being welded. In addition to being welded on the sides/ends, its also welded along the windshield opening, lots of welds!!

Ok, If I remove it and get a repro dash. How do I put it back in? Drill many holes and MIG weld?

there's a repro dash available??

the major welds are along the cowl flange that makes up the windshield opening, to the top flange of the dash, which is the rest of the windshield opening, first step is taking out the windshield .... can be done, but rarely is

I guess I need to take pictures and ask what it where. It seems along the windshield is not welded but more on the sides.

There's a couple dozen spot welds running across the top & down sides of the dash. There are also 2 bolts on each end up under the lower corner of the dash along w/the steering column & cowl vent braces.

Ok, that seems resonable. I can use a saw and chisle and should be able to get it out. Now, putting it back in, what if I just use a epoxy with a couple of welds? I have used the epoxy on a couple of repair panels and it seems to work well. Suggestions?

I personally would weld it in. When I replaced mine years ago I used a die grinder to remove it. It'll keep the metal from distorting & will be a cleaner removal. Then used a small hand grinder to remove what was left & to clean up the old weld areas. I drilled small holes around the windshield pinch weld area so I could spot weld the inner & out lips together. I also welded it solid down both sides of dash just like stock. Clamped it all together & started tack welding it from side to side.

My dash was shot so i replaced the whole firewall.depending on what condition your cowls are in, do they need replacing or not.
Just an option to consider.

I finally got to it and it is really not that bad at all. There is one little spot that I will have to repair. Really the truck is solid exept for the dash and floorpans. The windshield must have been leaking for years! Once the dash is out the floorpans might be easier.
