The Stovebolt Site Forums The Parking Lot '60-'66 Trucks Rear Springs

After looking thru many parts catalogs and searching the internet, it looks as though there are no aftermarket suppliers who handle the rear springs for my 1960 Chevy 1/2 ton. I purchased a couple of matching coil springs at the swap meet this last weekend. (Actually, I purchased these springs to make blacksmithing tools. Truck coil springs make good punches, chisels, hot cuts, etc. because it's tough stuff..). Anyway, these springs are in good shape and the material is around 5/8 to 3/4 inch in diameter looking by eye. I would hate to cut them up if they would work on my '60. I'm thinking of matching them up to the springs on the truck to see if they are similar. If they are not, is there a way to make them work?? Also, why are 1960 Chevy rear coil springs not available, is there something special about them?? Thanks.

Classic parts of america has them in stock for $100 new. Ecklers Trucks has them also.

The second link was for stock springs.....

The ones our host sells are as close to stock as your going to find however the grade 8 bolt that comes up through the bottom was hard to find locally. Hope this helps.
