What brand do most home painters use? Looking for primer, base, and clear coats.

So what are you looking to have when your done? Plenty of guys have gone with Rustoleum and plenty more Sherwin Williams (auto not home) PPG or Marin Senior (NAPA). Cheap to High end and back again. I use SPI epoxy and am planning on their Red base coat and if they ever get it into production (just kidding I know its on the way) the single stage Black. From my surfing web forums the Restoration and Kirker are mid-range but your surf board may ride differently... FWIW I've been surfing now for over a year looking for the answer to my ultimate question of Paint Primer and the meaning of Life. In this case 42 did not compute but usually that's the one I go with. Left you wondering still? Good. That seems to be the end result when questions about which paint to use come up.

I also custom mixed my own color by combining IH white and JD green. Pick a color straight out of the can if you plan to do any touch-up work later. It is really difficult to duplicate my original mix. | | | | Joined: Oct 2010 Posts: 171 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Oct 2010 Posts: 171 | ChromaBase/Clear. with flattener. Have used Nason clear as well, cheaper and can not tell the difference. Primer, well depends on the part. DuPont Fill-n-sand 131S, Nason Ful-Fil are about the same. DuPont 3240S high build urethane high build primer-nason has a similar product. FYI Nason is owned by DuPont just a step down-in price anyway. Standox spot putty is the bomb!
