I have just bought a vintage camping trailer which has split rims and 7.50 X 16 tires: I am hoping that some old guy here could tell me what that tire size is in modern numbers. I had done a search online and found a couple of places telling me it is 235-85 16, but this is very wrong (I have tried!). My tires are 31" diameter.

I'm going to my local tractor tire dealer tomorrow morning. My tractor has 7.50 x 16 tires on the front. I'll ask them about yours.

Are you thinking about replacing them with radials? Replacing the split rims too? That size tire is still available in 8 or 10 ply bias. Your old trailer will love 'em.

Yes, I will get rid of the split rims too. It sounds like you are saying that these tires would be better than radial, is this correct or are you just curious? I know this tire size is still available, but knowing the modern size would give me more choice.

I'm not saying bias is better than radial, but bias tires are still in wide use in lots of applications...
Power King brand has this ST7.50-16 trailer tire

that seem to be comparable. The radial is almost 2" wider section and requires a 1/2" wider rim. Is that what you found: too wide to fit?

Try yokohama. I know they did make/sell a 7.00R15 narrow radial and maybe they make a 7.50R16...

My tractor tire store suggested going to more modern rims and getting away from the split rims. Other than that they weren't very helpful. For radials they suggested LT235/85 R16.
