You will need a new flywheel housing for the v8 as the starter is in a different location.
Other than that, search the archives and the internet. Much information out there if you have never done it. However the Chev 6 to Chev 8 is about the simplest swap you can do.

In other words moving it towards the drivers side tire. This gives you more room for the engine. Had to do the same thing to my 50. | | |
