I just bought a replacement speaker grill for my 1949 Chevy 3100 from Brothers. My original was all chrome but the replacement I received has chrome bars top and bottom and sort of a gun metal gray in the center.
Does anyone offer an all chrome or polished stainless replacement like my original?

Here is a stainless speaker grill but it is also painted in the middle. Was that standard through 1951?

Mine is/was a Deluxe cab model. It had all chrome on the speaker grill, glove box door, and around the windshield and door windows.

With age the paint does come off the chrome and it stops being painted chrome.

right now if I was to polish the interior chrome on the dash on my 51 it would be all chrome with no paint because the paint is falling off.

Point being the original may have been painted like the replacement

Good move a serviceable OE part is almost always better then a new reproduction.

I'm not sure about the year guys but I THINK I read somewhere that around 51 the glovebox door was painted in the "recessed" lines of the door.....and some year had all chrome....

Tim, that link was a glove box door and not a Speaker Grille. After the intial post I'm wondering if there was a factory chrome SPEAKER grille??? I guess there would have been to go with the chrome/paint glovebox door!!

Mmmmm, I need to go read some or Tim will get me for not trying to look it up myself smile Right,Tim!!

No problem, Alvin. My mistake. Is this grill any better? It does not state if it is chromed or stainless?

That's the same one I got from Brothers. As far as I know, the all chrome speaker grill on my truck was from the factory but it's possible my uncle chromed it to match the glove box. Anyway, I am getting the original? rechromed along with the front bumper.

Of course the factory made all of the radio grills in chrome,
but....the centers were all painted with a two tone paint
complimenting the rest of the interior.
