Just like the title says, what holds the door window track fuzzy thing in place on an AD? There's the 2 channels down inside the door that seem to hold in there, but what holds it in place to the upper part??

I used a couple small sheet metal screws. SMALL ones!

One end of the window channel fits in the channel GUIDE and slips behind a little "clip" on the end of the guide. Not sure about the other end as I believe you have a full window door.

Thanks guys! I didn't realize they were stapled. I'll pick up some screws.

If you are talking about the glass guide (vertical), the bottom clips in place and the top is held in place by the door glass always being in full contact with the top. The horizontal "sweeper" on the inside of the door is stapled in place like others have said. Many people glue it in place. I plan to restaple mine by using existing holes in trim and matching hole in new felt and making my own staples from wire....piece of cake.

Oh yea, the upper or top felt (top of door). Mine was originally held in place via a tab that was screwed to the door frame. The tab was crimped to the felt guide. A small screw should work fine as teh glass does not slide across it.

EDIT: I re-read DavidF's post about the tabs holding the window guide ...

Those tabs come with the "DOOR WINDOW FELT & GLASS RUN KITS" from the Truck Shop. Top of left column in catelog.

I didn't know what they were for, so I used screws. Wish that I had known - I would have used them. The holes for the screws were already in the door.

This is my post about the screws before I edited it ...

I held the upper felt runs in place with #6 square drive trim screws for wood, similar to these. I cut them to about 1/2" long and ground a slight point on them. I held the felt in place with clamps, then drilled a hole through the felt into the door. I used a couple on the top and a couple on the side. The dark flat head disappears in the felt and doesn't touch the window glass. I originally used 1/4" #4 screws flat head machine screws as Alan H described, but buggered them up so I switched to the trim screws.

Regarding the door window fuzzy wipes on the inner garnish - I used staples from the Truck Shop (other vendors have them also). I held the wipes to the garnish with 4" quick clamps then drilled the wipes through the old staple holes in the garnish. Bent them over with little miniature vice grips from Lowes. Here is my post on how I did it. I don't think that the vice grips could be used on a pre-'51 vent window truck because the garnish is too narrow.

A couple of other posts with links on installing window felts and wipes ...

Paper clips work great for the staples.

Just fitted mine,I used glazing urethane and primer.
'Cos that's what I had available and I'm cheap!
It worked fine and I dont intend removing them any time soon.
