The box is bolted to a metal bracket which is then welded to the frame. The original setup had rubber mounts between the box and the bracket. The rubber mounts were shot and I'm not having any luck finding any, although I haven't looked very hard. If I don't put the rubber mounts back in do you think I will notice. It is a 47 2ton that already shakes, rattles and vibrates so I have a hard time believing forgetting the rubber mounts are going to make it any worse. Grigg - I got my shifter mounted up this evening, so now I have to work on linkage. Problem is I don't have any idea on how to set it up or adjust or even how to use thie brownie box. I don't even know the shift pattern. Do I remember reading you had an install manual? '37 GMC T-18 w/ DD 4-53T, RTO-610, 6231 aux., '95 GMC running gear, full disc brakes, power steering, 22.5 wheels and tires.
'47 GMC 1 ton w/ 302, NP-540, 4wd, full width Blazer front axle.
'54 GMC 630 w/ 503 gasser, 5 speed, ex fire truck, shortened WB 4', install 8' bed.
'55 GMC 370 w/270, 420 4 speed, grain, dump bed truck from ND. Works OK.

If you mount it solid you could potentially break something as your frame twists/moves. Mounting things rigidly is rarely a good idea for vibration/noise, but also for durability

Stack up 2 or 3 layers of sidewall material about 3 inches square and drill a hole in the middle. Instant reinforced rubber cushion!

I had an old Bias ply tire and I made some small squares from the tread portion.
