( BE CLEAR I HAVE NEVER DONE THIS MUCH BY MYSELF BEFORE) engine runs great trans shifts smooth but wont gear down. I put on an edlebrock performer intake and a holley 900 4 bbl carb. I had to add a bracket for the throttle cable and trans cable that came with the carb kit. do i need to adjust the trans cable or am i missing something?? any and all suggestuons welcome. That's the adjustment for the kick down cable. Also be sure you have a vacuum source for the modulator,

Just as the throttle reaches wide open, the cable should reach its full travel. Shift points on a 350 are controlled by the modulator and the governor pressure, which is generated by the speed of the driveshaft. Adjust the kickdown cable to be full forward at wide open throttle and it should function. If it doesn't, there is an internal problem with the kickdown band and/or the servo that applies it. That's overhaul territory!
