Anyone here seen or worked with one of the new all metal lower grill panels that Jim Carter now has available? Thoughts? He is offering fiberglass as well.

He has them for the Art Deco series Chevys. I understand they are the same for Pick Ups through Big Bolts. I sent an Email questioning what kind of "metal" is used (steel, aluminum???) but have not gotten a response yet.

call them on the phone and ask.

The majority of vendors do not know how to properly utilize email.

You still didn't mention the year, model and make of truck you are asking about... but I suppose we can guess that it is the one in your signature line.

The Chevrolet "Art Deco" series (not an "official" Chevy factory term) covers all '42-46 and first half of '47 trucks. Then the new fangled AD's (Advanced Design...definitely a factory moniker)came out.

And supposedly, the hoods, grills, entire front body metal except for fenders, are the same for 1/2 thru 1-1/2 ton conventional nose trucks. May include 2-tonners as well. But then, I did say "supposedly"...that's one of the things I am trying to confirm. I do know that the fenders definitely get bigger with tonnage, just not sure about all the other parts.

On AD trucks the 1-1/2 ton trucks have bigger hoods, grilles and fenders than the half to 1-tons.

I thought the fender wheel opening on the 1.5 ton and bigger '41-'46 trucks were bigger than the smaller trucks?

Was that just the '46 only 2 ton model?

I forget at the moment...

Hi Guys,
On 41-47 "ART DECO" the cab, doors, hoods, grilles, and grille to fender and frame items are the same. The front fenders are larger openings on the 1 1/2 ton & larger trucks-and the inner fenders are different on the '41s. Panel, suburban and canopy doors, rear bumpers, and rear fenders on larger panels, are different as well...

Hey PB --- Thanks for the confirmation on the Art Decos. And, BTW...that is one great lookin' panel! The ton-and-a-halfs are just way cooler than their little brothers!
