It has 8 (not seven) wires coming from the unit. I've identified the regular seven wires, but does anyone know what the eight wire may be used for? It is grey or light brown in color.
This unit has a green light on the end of the turn lever.

Somewhere I found a wiring diagram online, but I don't remember where. This unit wires into the parking lights and brake lights I remember that. Mine was old and the contacts were corroded - but eventually I got all functions to work properly including the 4-way flashers. Does your have that feature? I will look for the wiring schematic. Look at this here and the image or 2 previous and next.

The way I read this you don't need to replace the front sockets with dual filament. It will light the single filament bulbs when the headlight switch is in park position or flash the appropriate light when in 'turn'. Pretty nifty switch, I'd say. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 4,959 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 4,959 | Charlie, you are reading the diagram right. It is a nifty switch and its still being made. I have several on hand for spares, but now the drivers are too lazy to lift their leg so they want the ones with the dimmer switch built in too. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 24 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 24 | Thank you for the info which was very helpful. I assume from the diagram that I can simply tape off the 8th wire (red with green tracer) if I decide not to use the 4-way flasher feature, right?

I replaced the parking light bulbs with higher watt (brighter) bulbs. DadsApache, the red w green tracer goes from the parking light terminal on the light switch to the 800 unit. I think if you left that off you wouldn't have parking lights...

I assume from the diagram that I can simply tape off the 8th wire (red with green tracer) if I decide not to use the 4-way flasher feature, right? The 8th wire has nothing to do with the 4 way flashers. As has been stated, it connects to the park light terminal of the headlight switch. You can dead end the 8th wire if you want to. However, if you don't change your front sockets to to use dual filament bulbs you won't have front park lights because you have cut the power to them when you wired the turn signals to them. Why not just hook the red/green wire to the park light terminal of the light switch and dead end the original park light wire? It will take less time than changing to dual filament sockets. By the way, if you do it your way you will need to dead end the wires you cut from the park light sockets to prevent them from shorting out when you turn on the headlights because the switch will make momentary contact with the park light circuit when you turn on the headlights. | | | | | Joined: Nov 2000 Posts: 1,964 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2000 Posts: 1,964 | If you wire the 800 unit as shown in the schematic you don't have to change to dual filament sockets.

There also is one terminal that is only "hot" when the knob is pulled out to the running light position and goes out when the headlights are selected. Do you have any idea what this terminal is used for? Thanks in advance.

I have a 50 Truck with EZ Wiring 12 circuit
I just installed a signal stat sign flare 900 with 8 wires
The taillights work correctly with brake, signal and hazard flasher
The EZ wiring flashers are 2-contact units
The problem is the indicator light on the switch does not turn off now
I see in the schematic the blue wire for the light should go to “P” on a 3-contact flasher; but i do not have that
Also, i need to figure out why the parking lights do not signal
Any suggestions?? | | | | | Joined: Mar 2011 Posts: 1,146 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2011 Posts: 1,146 | Suburban Lou,
Can you post a picture of the schematic/wiring diagram and the instructions? | | | | | Joined: May 2005 Posts: 8,983 Sir Searchalot | | Sir Searchalot Joined: May 2005 Posts: 8,983 | Blue now goes to L. Blue is not the "8th" wire, it is one of the 7 wires on a standard signal stat 900. Pilot. The L terminal flashes the left or right lights on the truck and the blue is just attached to it so an indicator light on the dash or on Signal stat also flashes. On a three prong incandescent lighting flasher, L and P are the same thing. Never heard of a 900 with 8 wires coming out of it. I'm with Jorb, can we see the info you have? Other post.

First off thanks to all of you for your help
I had a sears switch but it was only 4 wire, can’t use unless I have a Ron Francis adaptor
So I bought a signal stat 900 sig flare off eBay
It is a 8 WIRE The EXTRA wire is the red with green tracer similar to signal stat 800
This wire goes to the parking light contact on the headlight switch
The problem was fixed just 10 minutes ago with EZ wiring responding that they must have wired the flasher and hazard wires coming out of the fuse box in reverse of each other I swapped the leads at the steering column and all works good now | | |
