The point is that with the bolts out, the whole assembly can be slid off. When I did mine I removed the rad but I have read about people doing it with the rad in place. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,337 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,337 | GMC pumps are just like 1954 and earlier Chev pumps in design, no impeller sticking out the back.
You can put a thin piece of card board against the radiator to protect it and remove pump and fan as an assembly.
